The short version: Court of Hearts has no accounts and asks you for nothing. Your story progress is saved only on your own device. The app is free and supported by advertising (Google AdMob, which also lets a few partner ad networks bid for each ad break). We use Firebase Analytics to see which episodes are watched, and OneSignal to send optional notifications about new episodes — only if you say yes. These services collect a device identifier and usage events; none of them know who you are. You can limit or turn each one off — see Your choices.
| Service | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Shows the ads that keep the app free | Advertising ID, ad interactions, IP-based region, device info |
| AdMob partner networks: AppLovin, Unity Ads, Liftoff Monetize, Mintegral, Pangle | Compete with Google to fill the same ad breaks | Advertising ID, ad interactions, IP-based region, device info |
| Google Firebase Analytics | Anonymous usage statistics | Random app-instance ID, in-app events, device info |
| OneSignal | Opt-in new-episode notifications | Push token, random device ID, language, time zone, current kingdom |
| Bunny.net | Streams the videos | IP address, for delivery only |
| Netlify | Hosts the app's pages and subtitles | IP address, for delivery only |
Court of Hearts is an interactive video story made by an independent developer. In this policy, “we” and “our” mean the developer of Court of Hearts. You can reach us at courtofhearts.game@gmail.com.
None. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no forms, and no registration. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or payment details, and the app contains no in-app purchases.
Your progress — choices, saved journeys, which clips you have watched, the king-compatibility ledger, subtitle language and settings — is stored locally on your device. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Deleting the app (or clearing site data in a browser) permanently removes your saves. Because these saves stay on your device, we have no copy of them to provide, export, or delete on your behalf.
To understand which parts of the story people enjoy, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics. It records anonymous usage events such as: which home-screen option was tapped, which episode started playing, which kingdom a journey began in, which story choices were picked, and how long a session in “Watch the Series” or “Choose Your Story” lasted. Firebase attaches a randomly generated app-instance identifier to these events, along with device model, operating system version, language and country-level region. The data is pseudonymous: it is not linked to your name, email address, or any account, because the app has none. We use it only in aggregate — for example, “how many players finished Vornheim this week” — to decide what to film next. Firebase's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase.
If you choose to receive notifications about new episodes, the app uses OneSignal to deliver them. Notifications are strictly opt-in: the app only asks after you have finished a kingdom's story, and nothing is sent unless you tap Yes and then allow notifications in the system prompt. To deliver them, OneSignal stores a push token issued by Apple or Google, a random device identifier, your device type and language, time zone, and the kingdom you are currently playing (so we can tell you when that story continues). We use this only to announce new episodes — never for marketing from third parties. OneSignal's practices are described in the OneSignal Privacy Policy.
After you have watched a number of episodes, the app may show the standard App Store or Google Play rating prompt. That prompt is provided by Apple or Google; the app itself does not collect or see your rating or review.
Court of Hearts is free and is supported by ads shown between story scenes. Ads are served by Google AdMob. To show, cap, and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and process:
To get the best price for each ad break, AdMob also lets a small set of other ad networks bid for it: AppLovin, Unity Ads, Liftoff Monetize, Mintegral and Pangle. Whichever network wins shows the ad and receives the same kinds of data listed above, under its own privacy policy: AppLovin, Unity, Liftoff, Mintegral, Pangle. Your choices below (tracking permission on iPhone, ad personalisation on Android) apply to them too.
This data is collected by Google, not stored by us. We only ever see aggregate, anonymous reports — for example, how many ads were shown in a country on a given day. We cannot identify any individual player. Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses data from AdMob.
You can limit ad personalisation at any time:
Story videos are streamed from a content delivery network (Bunny.net) so the app stays small on your device. Like any server on the internet, the CDN temporarily processes your device's IP address in order to deliver video to you. This is standard technical data required to serve content; we do not use it to identify or profile players. Bunny.net's practices are described at bunny.net/privacy.
Court of Hearts is a romance story intended for an adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will address it.
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Data collected by Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics is retained according to Google's own policies, linked above (Firebase Analytics event data is kept for 14 months by default). OneSignal keeps a device's push record until notifications are turned off or the app is uninstalled. Your on-device saves remain until you delete the app or clear its data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (Europe/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising.
Because we hold no personal data ourselves, requests about advertising or analytics data should be directed to Google using the links above, and requests about notification data to OneSignal. Ad personalisation and notifications can be switched off directly in your device settings as described in Your choices. We do not sell personal information. If you have a question about your rights, write to us and we will help where we can — including asking OneSignal to delete a device record if you send us the request from the device in question.
Our advertising, analytics, notification and content-delivery providers (Google and its partner ad networks listed above, OneSignal, Bunny.net) operate globally, so the technical data described above may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
If a future update changes how the app handles data, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
